Azraq: The Oasis that the Desert has Consumed

The short documentary aims to give voice to the residents of Azraq Oasis, who share how environmental and climate change, as well as government policies, have greatly impacted their daily lives and ability to survive in the harsh desert area.

In the last three decades, the oasis has seen a significant decline in its water cover, with approximately 90% of its water sources disappearing.

The depletion of the water basin is a result of over-pumping to the cities of central and northern Jordan, which has made the daily life of the residents of Azraq increasingly difficult and has had a direct impact on their social and economic well-being, which was previously sustained by the natural resources provided by the oasis.

"Al-Karamah" is a short documentary that highlights the life and struggles of the people in the Jordan Valley. Through their personal stories, the viewer gains insight into the challenges they face due to lack of access to clean water, energy, and other essential services, and how it has impacted their daily lives and community over time.
